Piotr M. Barski, President and Chief Executive Officer

Piotr Barski graduated with Honors from the Department of Biotechnology of the Technical University of Gdansk in 1995. From 1995 to 2001 he was a graduate student (with Prof. Maciej Zylicz) in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Gdańsk. In 2001 he defended his Doctoral Thesis (with Honors) on the mutation analysis of TSG101 gene in human cancer. Dr. Barski was a TEMPUS fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK where he worked in the group of Prof. Bruce Ponder. Between 2000 and 2002, Dr. Barski helped establish - acting in the capacity of both a scientific as well as a legal advisor -- several small biotech companies in Poland. In 2001, Dr. Barski co-founded Prochimia (with Dr. Grzybowski) and in 2002 became its C.E.O.

Dr. Barski published eight scientific papers and is a member of several professional societies. ProChimia benefits not only from his scientific but also legal and organizational experiences.

    Bartosz A. Grzybowski, Vice President

Bartosz A. Grzybowski graduated summa cum laude from Yale University in 1995. He obtained his Doctoral Degree from Harvard University in August 2000 where he worked in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology under the supervision of Prof. George M. Whitesides. After a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard, he established Vitae Pharmaceuticals (with Professors Whitesides and Shakhnovich), a privately held biotechnology company. He served as a Director of Research therein from July 2001 to December 2002. In June 2003, he joined the Faculty of Northwestern University (Evanston, USA) where he is now Burgess Professor of Physical Chemistry and Chemical Systems Engineering and also Director of the Non-equilibrium Energy Research Center established in 209 by the U.S. Department of Energy . In 2005, Dr. Grzybowski co-founded (with Dr. Barski) ProChimia Poland.

Professor Grzybowski is an author of over 120 scientific publications, including six papers in Science and Nature. His scientific interests include self-assembly in non-equilibrium/dynamic systems, complex chemical networks, nanostructured materials and nanobiology. Prof. Grzybowski is a recipient of the ACS Colloids Young Investigator, NSF CAREER, and Gerhard Kanig Innovation Awards, and has recently been named a Pew Scholar in Biomedical Sciences, a Sloan Fellow and a Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar. His first book "Chemistry in Motion: Reaction-Diffusion Systems in Micro- and Nanotechnology" from Wiley was published earlier this year.

Dariusz Witt, Vice President of Chemistry

Dariusz Witt graduated with honors (Primus Inter Pares) from the Technical University of Gdansk in 1992. His PhD work in the group of Prof. Janusz Rachon at TUG focused on the elucidation of reaction mechanisms of various classes of organosulfur and organophosphorus compounds. Dr. Witt obtained his Doctorate with General Honors in 1996. From 1998 to 2000 he was a post-doctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Lyle Isaacs at the University of Maryland. In 2001, Dr. Witt joined ProChimia where he is now the VP of Chemistry.

Dr. Witt authored 16 scientific publications, and is interested in various aspects of organic synthetic methodology and molecular self-assembly.
