Ultra-bioresistant Zwitterionic ligands

Novel, rapidly growing group of super bioresistant, non-fouling agents consist of several molecules exposing distal zwitterionic groups on the surfaces. These compounds follow the bioresistance dogma postulated by Prof. Whitesides and coworkers ( Lanmuir/, 2001/, 17(18), 5605-5620) sharing 4 important molecular features:
- be hydrophilic;
- be hydrogen acceptor;
- do not be hydrogen donor;
- be neutral in charge.
